A bamboo-and-timber A-frame structure under a makuti roof, built by hand over two floors. Downstairs, a king bed dressed in white among African textiles and an arched picture window that frames the jungle. Upstairs, a rooftop terrace to lie back and count the stars.
Beneath the house itself, a lounge with a pool and private garden for the hottest hours of the day. The bathroom is outdoors, set among the greenery. There is nothing else like it in Zanzibar.
Climb the stairs, leave the world below, and stay on the rooftop long after the lights go out. The Tree House is not a room with a view — it is a lookout with a bed. Your base up in the canopy: you come up to recharge, and head back down for more island.
